Business Plan Competitions
The Lester Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, an affiliate of the Institute, oversees a variety of premier business plan competitions for the benefit of Haas MBA and other Berkeley graduate students. These competitions have helped to identify and promote promising business ideas through the education and exposure afforded by the competition’s events, mentors and judges.
The Certificate in Entrepreneurship, supported by the Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, an affiliate of the Institute, provides MBA students with evidence of a completed curriculum teaching basic skills required to identify an entrepreneurial opportunity, design the business, obtain financing and manage the growth process. The Management of Technology Certificate, supported by the Management of Technology Program, an affiliate of the Institute, provides students with the opportunity to attend a variety of courses offered by Haas, Engineering, and SIMS relating to management issues in the high-tech field.
The Gloria W. Appel Award for Outstanding Leadership in Entrepreneurship is presented by the Lester Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, an affiliate of the Institute, to a second year MBA candidate of outstanding caliber who has made an extraordinary and lasting contribution to the entrepreneurship program at Haas. A $5,000 fellowship accompanies the award.

The Bradley Fellowships, administered by the Institute, support meritorious and promising graduate and post-graduate fellowships in the Haas School of Business and the Department of Economics, with emphasis on applied microeconomics and public policy.

LECG Founders Fellowships, administered by the Institute, support newly entering graduate students in the Haas School of Business and the Department of Economics who intend to specialize in industrial organization, regulation or public policy.

The Peter T. Jones Fellowship, administered by the Institute, is awarded to outstanding graduate students and visiting faculty at Berkeley whose studies and research embrace matters which impact global understanding and economic development at home and abroad. The fellowship is a living tribute to Peter's dedication to education, international cooperation and human welfare.

The Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship, administered by the Institute, helps to educate graduate students of the University of California at Berkeley with high potential for future leadership in international affairs, in public life as well as in private endeavor, providing these students with a wide range of courses and research opportunity at the Haas School of Business in the MBA and business administration Ph.D. programs, and in joint programs of study with other disciplines.

Fellowships and Internships in Innovation and Entrepreneurship
The Larson Fellowships, administered by the Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, an affiliate of the Institute, will be established in fall 2008 to support undergraduate and MBA students in their entrepreneurial efforts.

The Turner Fellowship, administered by the Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, an affiliate of the Institute, has been established to support MBA students in their entrepreneurial efforts. One $5,000 fellowship will be awarded to an outstanding MBA student (Day or Evening/Weekend). A faculty committee makes the selections based on academic achievements, entrepreneurial experience, career goals, and financial need.

The Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, an affiliate of the Institute, works with the Entrepreneurs Association (EA) and its Partners for Entrepreneurial Leadership to find EA members summer internships with entrepreneurial companies and to help them capitalize on those internships in classes during the following semester.
The Lester Center administers a changing series of grants that allow it to subsidize selected students who are working at small, start-up firms that can’t afford the market rates for Haas MBA interns.

The Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, an affiliate of the Institute, annually selects exceptional first year MBA students as Haas Venture Fellows. The internship provides the MBA candidate with hands-on experience in the world of new venture creation and management. The Fellowships are awarded only to first year Haas MBA candidates or first year Haas evening MBA program participants who have superior qualifications and strong interest in Venture Capital industry. Applications are judged by a panel of faculty and advisors with venture capital experience named each year by the Lester Center.

Fellowships in Technology Development and Management
This program provides U.C. Berkeley graduate students opportunities for employment in IT-intensive businesses within the 2009 summer period (May 22-August 20). These students might work independently under company direction or as a member of a team including company staff members. Companies may use this as a chance to personally meet and recruit highly qualified employees for permanent positions.
Bay Area corporations may also hire graduate business or engineering students who are available part-time during the school year.

The Mayfield Fellows Program is a year-long program organized by the Management of Technology Program, an affiliate of the Institute. It is a unique program designed to bring together graduate students from the Haas Business School, College of Engineering, and School of Information Management who share a passion for entrepreneurship and technology. The program provides the ultimate entrepreneurship experience by combining ongoing mentoring with faculty, company executives, and venture capitalists and Silicon Valley networking activities. Fellows further have an opportunity to travel and study entrepreneurship in Asia in the summer.
The UC Berkeley Mayfield Fellows Program is funded by the Mayfield Fund, a top-tier venture capital fund based in Menlo Park, California.

The MOT China Fellows Program was created for MBA and graduate engineering and SIMS students with an interest in technology, business, and the rapid development of China's high tech economy. The program is administered by the Management of Technology Program, an affiliate of the Institute.
The fellowship includes an MOT-organized trip to China. The Fellows will travel to Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing to meet with high tech executives, business leaders, researchers and government officials, and meet their counterparts at Chinese universities.
